In international express transportation, liquids, powders, other chemical solid particles, and other small particles are all classified as chemical products. Due to the special nature of these products, airlines and courier companies require that an appraisal must be conducted before shipment. Generally, the following documents are needed: - 1 copy of the appraisal report from Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry - 2 copies of detailed descriptions of the items - 2 copies of the letter of guarantee - 1 copy of the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for chemicals - 1 shipping mark for each package Shipment can only be arranged when all these documents are available. However, many customers do not have these documents. When shipping through freight forwarders, the forwarders often provide materials with other product names for shipment. But most of the appraisal reports we use involve mislabeling product names, which poses certain risks. For example, when conducting appraisals for liquids, powders, and solid particles of several colors, in most cases, we match the colors and types of the customer's items. Sometimes, we only match the types without considering the colors, mainly depending on whether we have the corresponding colors and types for the customer's items. Shipping chemical products overseas by customers carries certain risks. If the goods are inspected by customs and the local recipients are unable or unwilling to clear the customs, there are two possible outcomes. One is that the goods are returned, which will incur return fees and tariffs from both countries (if applicable). The other is that the goods are destroyed locally, and in some countries, destruction fees will be charged. All fees are subject to local regulations. If you are not a professional in handling chemical products, it is recommended not to ship chemicals such as liquids and powders for customers, because your customers may also lack experience, and ultimately, significant losses may occur. As a transportation provider, our courier company can only act as a liaison between the customs and the customer to assist in information transmission when there are customs clearance issues, and we cannot directly help customers clear customs. Of course, when chemical products are not inspected by customs, there are no problems at all, and they can pass through customs directly or require the payment of some tariffs, just like ordinary items. Airlines require chemical products to be well-packaged to prevent leakage. Additionally, with the large number of appraisal materials, the weight often increases by about 200 grams. If your item weighs more than 300 grams, it is likely to be billed as more than 500 grams.
